Sea temperature over the season: west versus east
The western islands (La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro) had a warmer sea than the eastern islands (Lanzarote, Fuerteventura): 24.3 °C against 22.9 °C on average. The warmest day was 24 September 2026, at 25.6 °C averaged over all beaches. The eastern islands lie closer to Africa, where cold water rising from the deep along the coast (upwelling) cools the sea.

How the ranking is made
AEMET, Spain's state weather agency, publishes a daily forecast for 80 beaches in the Canary Islands. Every morning since 10 June 2026 we have saved that day's forecast for each beach: the sky in the morning, the maximum air temperature, the water temperature and the maximum UV index.
A clear morning is a day for which AEMET forecast a clear sky ("despejado") for the morning. These are official same-day forecasts, not readings from weather stations.
The ranking updates every day as the archive grows. The daily data for every beach is free to download and reuse with credit to AEMET and CanaryForecast.
