About CanaryForecast

CanaryForecast answers one question every Canary Islands visitor asks each morning: where is it sunny today? The islands' microclimates are extreme — the north of an island can sit under clouds while the south enjoys clear skies.

We track the official AEMET beach forecast for 80 monitored beaches across all 7 islands and rank the islands live by sunshine, several times a day. For every beach you get sky conditions for morning and afternoon, air and sea water temperature, UV index, wind and waves.

How we get our data

Live beach conditions come from the official AEMET beach forecast (the play_v2_ XML feed), refreshed around 09:30, 13:30 and 17:30 Canary time for all 80 monitored beaches across the 7 islands. Monthly climate averages use AEMET climate normals (1981–2010 and 1991–2020). Calima (Saharan dust) levels come from the Open-Meteo air-quality API, based on the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS). Sea-state data comes from the Open-Meteo marine model. We cache every dataset locally and never call these services from your browser.
